This review is for Kitchenatics Half Sheet Cooling Rack, 11.8" x 16.9", (ASIN: B0182R3UFY). I ordered these having seeing Cook's Illustrated America's Test Kitchen rated them the best. The rack is good and solid. I didn't have any flaws in mine. I like to use them on sheet pans to cook with or for cooling racks. The sheet pans collect the drippings, and you can line the sheet pan with foil for quick cleanup. The tines are close together, so it can be tough to clean. The best thing to do is clean the wrack as soon as possible, to reduce stuck on foods. Also, you could hit with some non-stick spray, depending on what you are cooking. Overall, this is an excellent cooling rack, and cooling racks are a very helpful tool in the kitchen. Not only are they good for cooking, but you can better let proteins cool on them without getting the bottom of the food soggy.I have nothing bad to say about this 1/4 sheet wire rack. I put it in the dishwasher to clean it, use it with Nordicware 1/4 sheet pans and it fits perfectly. Sturdy. Neat. A great product!Many cooling racks don’t actually play well with the dishwasher. These do. I bought a set of these a while back and since they worked well I purchased more.I originally purchased America’s Test Kitchen’s pick, the Checkered Chef Half Sheet cooling racks. They were a perfect fit, and I actually liked the fact that sit down in, as opposed to level like the Kitchenatics. But that was the only thing I liked about them.They were bent, relatively flimsy, and the worst part was multiple broken welds on 4 different racks. Sent em back, no bueno. Could’ve just been a bad batch, but I’m ALL FOUR (2x2 packs) were junky.Unboxing the Kitchenatics, I was immediately happy. Sturdy feel, almost perfectly flat, these seem like they’re built to last. Time will tell on the durability of the steel, but I warm them in the oven after washing so I don’t think rust will be an issue.I do wish they sat just a ¼” or so lower, so food on the rack can’t roll right out of the half sheet. But with caution, I’m not too worried about that. Mostly I will use these for cooling cookies and keeping battered fried food crisp, so I doubt I will move them around much.I like the three sizes to layer jars in my canner when processing.Love them, they’re solid, easy to clean, much better than baskets for steamingI needed these to bake some chicken wings. They worked well.Very sturdy product. Like that it comes in 3 sizes.I had the smaller one of these as a cooling rack for cakes and have recently purchased the largest size for bigger cakes.They are extremely sturdy, well made, clean easily and look as if they will last a lifetime. A little on the expensive side but if you want too-notch quality then go for these.I have not, though, tried them as roasting racks.Hope this helps!I am very happy with this purchase.The wires are just 1cm apart so food is well supported. .Big so can hold a lot.I’ve used it for reheating fried chicken in the oven so the fat drips away, a cooling rack and a draining rack for the extra washing up from Xmas.Very versatile, sturdy with no sharp edges and most importantly easy to clean. Dishcloth and then a quick going over joins with a toothbrush. Definitely worth the additional cost.If you want something that is going to last a few years then it is worth spending the extra bit to get a well made and strong rack. You can feel the quality and just know that this is not going to fall apart or rust away anytime soon.purchased a larger rack as a christmas present,was so pleased with thequality,i purchased a smaller one for myself,This is a solid very well made rack,it cleans easily,the mesh is far enough apart to allow food cooked onit to cook fairly evenly,but close enough so small items don`t fall through it,this is a product that i would highly recommendI like it and it does the job, been using it to grill for a few months.The problem is cleaning.With the fine mesh, there are lots of crossing points between left-right and up-down wires, and food accumulates around those points because they're very hard to clean.I don't see this design really having a long life, because it will get more and more dirty over time.
